General Information: Top 10 horse/rider combinations will advance to the Finals on the last day of the contest. Finals start with a clean slate. Online entries only. All entries are due by December 20, 2024. Entries received after December 20th will be considered late and late fees will be included. No new entries will be taken after February 15, 2025.
ENTRY INFORMATION

- Online entries will require a CC number to be processed. Please be aware that there is a 3% CC fee
- Please be aware that if you scratch your entry, we reserve the right to charge your card for any fees due.
- Late fees will be charged to any entry received after the due date.

IMPORTANT SCRATCH INFORMATION
Last day to scratch to receive refund on fees is February 15th, 2025, at 5:00 PM MST
Scratches received by February 15th includes full entry fee and cattle fees. $50 office charge will be retained by Art of the Cowgirl. All scratches received after 5:00 PM MST February 15th, 2025, will forfeit full cattle fees.
NOTE: NO CATTLE FEES WILL BE REFUNDED AFTER FEBRUARY 15TH – NO EXCEPTIONS!

EQUIPMENT
Horses must be shown in a bridle throughout all phases, no tie-downs will be permitted.
The traditional bridle with romal must be used. With romal reins, hand is to be around the reins in a fist position with thumb up and no fingers between the reins. In the herd work only, romal reins can be held in one hand. Roping reins are optional in the Steer Stopping.
A rider may show only one horse. An owner may enter more than one horse provided there is a different rider for each entry. No change (substitution) to a horse / rider combination is allowed once the first go has taken place.
FINALS
10 horse/rider combinations will advance to the finals on the last day of the contest. If a tie advances more than 10, all ties advance. The payout will be adjusted/reworked according to the number of horses in the finals, but the total payout will not change.
- Finalists start with a clean slate.
- In the event that any finals qualified horse / rider combinations do not compete in the finals (scratch), the horse/rider combinations will still receive a finals check. If there are multiple scratches, the finals placings for the scratched horses will be placed based on their preliminary score.
Herd Work:
- 2 1⁄2 minute time limit
- Judging will begin at the line
- Herd help is available, competitors are also able to bring their own help
- Romal reins may be used in one hand in herd work only
- Using two hands will result in a 0 (one hand may hold the romal)
- With romal reins, hand is to be around the reins in a fist position with thumb up and no fingers between the reins.
- Illegal equipment will result in a 0
Reining:
- Judging will begin when horse enters arena
- Using two hands will result in a 0
- With romal reins, hand is to be around the reins in a fist position with thumb up and no fingers between the reins. Romal is to be held in opposite hand.
- Illegal equipment will result in a 0
Steer Stopping:
- Electric barrier will be used
- Judging begins when horse enters the box
- Two loop limit
- 60 second time limit
- Competitor may strip loop and rebuild as long as they have not dallied
- Dallying signals commitment to loop and end of run
- Roping reins are permitted. NRCHA Legal bit must be used with leather curb strap
- No tie-downs
- All legal head catches are allowed (slick horns, half head, neck)
- Steer must face and rope come tight to get a flag
- Illegal equipment will result in a 0
Fence Work:
- Judging will begin when horse enters arena
- Using two hands will result in a 0
- With romal reins, hand is to be around the reins in a fist position with thumb up and no fingers between the reins. Romal is to be held in opposite hand
- The required pattern for the cow work is: boxing, fence turns and circles, in that order
