The National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 class of inductees, and among this year’s honorees is master saddle maker and beloved mentor Nancy Martiny of Idaho — a woman whose craftsmanship and dedication have left an indelible mark on the Western world.
For more than four decades, Martiny has been handcrafting saddles of exceptional quality and artistry. With over 500 saddles to her name, her work preserves one of the most iconic traditions of the American West. Trained under legendary saddle maker Dale Harwood, she has carried forward not only the techniques of her trade but also the deep respect for heritage and authenticity that defines true craftsmanship.
Nancy’s influence extends far beyond her workshop. As a Master Artist for the Art of the Cowgirl and a sitting Board Member of the Art of the Cowgirl Foundation, she has generously shared her knowledge with emerging saddle makers, ensuring the skills and spirit of the craft are passed down to future generations. Through her mentorship, she has inspired countless artisans to pursue excellence and embrace the values of hard work, artistry, and tradition.
Her induction into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame places her alongside an elite group of women who have shaped the culture, art, and authenticity of the West. “Nancy’s work reflects not just the precision of a master saddle maker, but the heart of a true cowgirl,” said Pat Riley, Executive Director of the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame. “She embodies the resilience, creativity, and dedication that define the Hall’s mission.”
Nancy will be officially inducted during a special ceremony on November 18, 2025, at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. The event will honor her extraordinary career, her role as a guardian of Western tradition, and her unwavering commitment to passing on the craft to the next generation.
