Fellowship opens March 15, 2020

Applications are due no later than April 15, 2020.

Recipients will be announced by April 30, 2020.

Art of the Cowgirl Master Saddlemaker Nancy Martiny built her first saddle more than 30 years ago. She not only builds saddles that are used every day by working cowboys and horsemen, but she and her husband Jim also ride the saddles she makes on their Idaho ranch.

PROGRAM SUMMARY

  • 5-6 Day Fellowship in May, Idaho at Martiny Saddlery (Room & Board provided)

  • Tools and Supplies provided to create full and complete rough-out saddle (Costs covered by Art of the Cowgirl)

  • On-going mentorship opportunity with Nancy Martiny

  • Opportunity to show finished piece at Art of the Cowgirl Event 2021

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT FOR FELLOWSHIP

  • Must have previous leather work experience (saddle making experience not necessary)

  • Must have basic leather cutting and sewing skills and tools – video and/or photo required

  • Physically capable of long days of leather work
