Learn how to build your own chinks with Chelsea Sazama, owner and operator of Rocking S Saddle Shop.
All necessary leather, tools and hardware will be provided. Pick ONE COLOR. This will be the main color for your chinks. Chelsea will have extra leather there to use for accent colors or you can trade with the other class members.
No prior leatherworking experience required. All skill levels are welcome!
Class will cover:
- How to take proper measurements to build a custom-fitting set of chinks
- Pattern Drawing
- Types of leather that are good for different styles of chinks/chaps
- Parts of the hides that are best suited for different uses
- How to cut out and geometric stamp the yokes
- Machine sewing
- Fringe cutting
- Riveting
- And much more
***Disclaimer: There is a lot of hammering, cutting with sharp knives, and strong glue used. Please be aware of this when signing up for the class.
