Rodey and Brooke Wilson are from Canyon, Tx. Running momma cows and calves on wheat and helping friends and neighbors, our horses see all aspects of ranch work before they are ever offered to the public. We focus on ranch breeding programs to find colts to fit our program. We expose those horses to everything we can, to make a very well-rounded horse for the public. With about 70 head of horses in our barn at all times, we always have good ones waiting in the wing for their turn. Rodey enjoys the WRCA ranch rodeos and is often found in the winners circle with a top hand or top horse award. If you don’t find us at a ranch rodeo, you can usually find us at a team roping seasoning the next up and coming horses.

Description

Lonestar maybe one of the prettiest horses we have ever offered to the pubic. He’s true “cowboy color” or should I say “cowgirl color”, a beautiful bay with the long mane and the biggest tail we’ve ever seen. We bought Lonestar when he was still on his mama’s side. We pulled into a pasture with 40+ mares and when Lonestar came trotting over the hill we knew he was one we had to own. Since then we have done everything on him that there is to do on one. He’s a steadfast true ranch horse that has been there done that. Gathering big pastures, long cattle drives, dragging calves and sorting pairs are all on Lonestars resume. Once he’s done working for the day take him home to the arena and enjoy a session of heading or heeling steers. Lonestar is fancy broke. He will turn around and stop and he will stay gentle with ample time off. He is stands 15 hands tall and is heavy made, tipping the scale at 1,250 pounds. Lonestar was bred and raised on the 2011 AQHA Remuda award winning ranch, Tongue River Ranch. He proudly carries the crooked T on his left hip, which is the ranch brand. He carries a 77 on his left jaw signifying the mare lineage, an 8 on his left buttock signifying the year he was born and a 20 on his right buttock signifying his sire. Tongue River Ranch has concentrated on raising horses that are not only well built animals but are, above all, highly intelligent, incredible athletes and that have the ability and the desire to get the job done. Lonestar is no exception to this. Our 2023 high selling Rancho Rio horse, “TRR Kadabra Cat” was also a Tongue River Ranch raised horse.
