NON PRO DEFINITION AND RULES (FOR THE ART OF THE COWGIRL BRIDLE HORSE CHALLENGE ONLY)
A Non Pro is anyone who has not won more than $25,000 in Open competition, in any event that pertains to reined cow horse (cutting, reining, cow horse, or any fence work events)
A Non Pro shall also be defined as any person, regardless of age, who is not currently receiving remuneration directly or indirectly for showing, training, giving lessons, clinics, or assisting in the training of a SHOW and COMPETITION horse for remuneration.
Payment of entry fees and/or expenses by anyone other than the Non Pro, his/her immediate family or his/her corporation is considered remuneration.
Fence work: Competitor enters arena and calls for a cow then will box the cow for a sufficient amount of time before going down the fence. One fence turn past the center marker is required and the cow must be circled both ways to receive a score.
Cowhorse trail class: Open and close the gate to enter the arena. Judging starts as the horse approaches the gate. Competitor will complete a trail course which includes obstacles that would be seen outside of the arena in a real world situation. During the course the horse will also be required to perform reining pattern elements such as lead departures, simple stop, turn arounds and two lead changes. Horses will not be required to execute a sliding stop as we will have the ground deeper than would be sufficient to properly stop.
Finals (for Open only): Finals will be a fence work only, rope instead of circle. Run stops when rope comes right and cow faces. Dragging the cow is not required.
Winners of both the Open and Non Pro will receive an entry into the 2022 Art of the Cowgirl World’s Greatest Horsewoman
